LA three piece Lo Moon have signed to Easy Does It Records and [PIAS], and come back with Satellite, their first new track in over two years.
"'Satellite' is an exploration of fatherhood, loss and life's challenges," says frontman Matt Lowell. "The constant feeling of working toward figuring life out, yet being unable to grasp how to do that in this ever-changing world, both personally and externally. We tried to capture the anxiety and fear that comes with that using a more direct and new sonic landscape for us."
They didn't just sit on the song either. Satellite went out on a limited 7" first, mixed early by Alan Moulder, and was handed out free to everyone who turned up to a run of underplay shows in London and Manchester back in February – fans have been asking for a digital release ever since. Giving the people who turned up to those shows the actual record, months before anyone else got to hear it, is the sort of thing a band does when they mean it, and it's why this one's going up.
The finished version was produced by Alex Farrar, who has worked with MJ Lenderman, Hotline TNT and Wednesday, and Moulder's name alone is worth noting – My Bloody Valentine, Smashing Pumpkins and The Killers are all on his CV.
Lo Moon emerged back in 2016 with Loveless, followed by a self-titled debut album in 2018 that NPR called "shimmering, immersive and otherworldly. As intimate as it is anthemic." They've since shared stages with The War On Drugs, Phoenix, Air and Ride, and played Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, SXSW and All Points East. More touring is planned for 2027, after a couple of recent support slots with The War On Drugs.
Satellite is out now digitally on all the usual platforms.
