London band The Intransigents have a new single called Ungodly, taken from their Kosmische EP on High Tide Records. Radio gets it on 3 November and it hits streaming on 6 November 2026.
The band formed in 2024 and describe their sound as a cinematic blend of post-punk, psychedelic jangle and garage rock. They are fronted by singer and lyricist Benny Crossroads, with Mark Leech on bass (formerly of mod-psych legends The Onlookers), Dave 'DC' Clark on guitars and Phil 'Freezer' Pinch on drums. Leech, Clark and Pinch all played in retro-janglers Thee Moot and freakbeat rockers The Transients, so the line-up has a fair bit of London scene history behind it.
The EP was recorded at Decatone Studios in Twickenham with producer Morgan Nicholls, whose credits include Muse, Vent 414 and The Who. It came out digitally in August 2026 and has four tracks – Kosmische, Ungodly, Semaphore and Jungle. The title track is described as celebrating the band's love of 1970s German music and psych folk.
I'm happy to back this one. A new band made up of players from The Onlookers, Thee Moot and The Transients, who have taken that scene history into a Morgan Nicholls-produced EP with a German kosmische nod in the title, is the kind of London guitar music I like to see getting a push. The press release has Stephen Wood of External Doughnut Promotions calling it "like Julian Cope fronting Rain Parade", which is a very good place to start from.
Other quotes in the release include "Cinematic widescreen sound" from Buzz at Punky Reggae Party, and "It's a lovely song and the vocal is sublime" from Simon Waller of Rockbox London. Jeremy Doyle of The Long 90s calls it "Great songs and performances – fabulous stuff". The tracks have already been played on Brooklands Radio (Andy Robertson) and Breeze FM (Alan May).
Live dates:
- 18 November – Half Moon, Putney
- 16 December – The Dublin Castle, Camden
The band are also working on new material for release in 2027.
