Eddie Mole – Simon’s Song, a tribute to a friend and bandmate

Tuesday 20 October 2026

Eddie Mole has a new single out on 21 October called Simon's Song, with an acoustic version and a 7 minute 13 second extended club mix alongside the 3 minute 39 original. It's the latest cut from his album Letterbox Vision on Inspire Studio, filed as indie rock and alternative rock, with his own sound tagged "Alt, Noir" and set alongside Nick Cave, Lou Reed and Tom Waits.

Simon's Song is a tribute – Mole wrote it for Simon Williams, a friend and bandmate who played on Letterbox Vision and died earlier this year. As Mole puts it, "every good friend deserves a song."

Picking the extended club mix because he reckoned Simon would have liked it best is the kind of detail that makes a tribute land, and it's why I'm happy to put Simon's Song up here.

Mole lived and worked in horticulture and plant conservation in Northumberland and Edinburgh before settling in the South West of England, and was a world class pinball player before music took over full time. Letterbox Vision also carries a run of collaborations with other UK and international artists.

Simon's Song, the acoustic version and the extended mix are all out on 21 October, with the vinyl available through Mole's Bandcamp: https://eddiemole.bandcamp.com/music
