Rob Clamp – Too Simple, a Southampton songwriter’s first single from second album Bringing Them Home

Thursday 5 November 2026

Southampton singer-songwriter Rob Clamp has a new single out, Too Simple, with streaming from 6 November and a radio push already under way. It is the first track from his second album Bringing Them Home, which is due in April 2027 on Right Track Records / Universal Music.

The press release lines him up with Ben Howard, Tom Petty and Springsteen, with a nod to Sam Fender and even The Waterboys. The song itself follows a couple through a flat downtown, a Saturday on lemon gin and a Sunday with the roast, and the chorus keeps coming back to the line "too simple wasn't enough".

The album is backed by a long tour. There are around 40 dates across 7 countries, with full band shows in Paris, Hamburg, Manchester and London among others. It starts in January and finishes on 3 April in Rob's hometown of Southampton.

What gets me is the workload behind it. Rob averages well over 100 shows a year, has sold out rooms in England and Germany, and has supported Richard Thompson and Frank Turner along the way. Someone who plays that much, wins the Purbeck Rising and the Sofia International Singer Songwriter Festival in Bulgaria and then plans a 7 country run for the follow-up is exactly the sort of artist I'm happy to put my name behind here.

Bringing Them Home was recorded at Sunrise Sound Studios, produced by Ben Reid and mastered by Andrew Hunt. Rob is on vocals and acoustic guitar, with his touring band The Ashmen: Ben Reid on keys, slide guitar and mandolin, Sam Weeks on drums and banjo, Ed Bentley on bass and Dave Elliott on violin. The press material says they have been touted as having a sound big enough to work in front of several thousand people.

His debut album Lost Soul came out in 2024, and he has also been featured on BBC Introducing. Live, he performs on his own with an acoustic guitar and foot percussion. Stevie Simkin of Americana UK wrote of "a voice with such controlled power" that retains "a purity and focus that is all too rare".

The impact date is 13 November.
