Leeds musician Lewis Jack Inman has shared Daydream, the fifth and final single from his fourth album The Squeeze, which came out on 15 May. The press material describes it as a rollercoaster of a track, with huge choruses, calmer verses and a focus on self awareness. It is available for broadcast now, and Lewis is available for interview.
The album is an alt rock record pitched at fans of Courtney Barnett, Pixies and Queens of the Stone Age. It is also entirely DIY. Every one of his previous releases has had him playing all the instruments, and The Squeeze is the same, but it is the first one he has produced himself too, with no external contributions at all.
That self-reliance is a big part of why I'm happy to back this one. Going solo in 2019 and then making a whole record on your own, from the playing to the production, takes some nerve, and it is a good fit for what Audio Addicts is about. Daydream is a sensible place to start if you haven't come across him before.
Since 2019 he has put out three albums – Another Winter, Far Away and Fly – plus plenty of singles. He returned to the live scene in 2025 with a new band, made up of Sam Green and Dan James, who are described as two of the local scene's hardest working musicians. They played the Lending Room and Hyde Park Book Club within a few months of each other. In late 2025 he also released the Fossilz Collection, which mixes work from his previous bands with recordings from live shows in Leeds.
On Daydream, RGM Press says the jangly guitars and distant singing give it "quite an 80's/90's vibe" and the feeling of remembering a nostalgic summer, while still keeping a grungy feel. Indie Boulevard says that in the middle of all the noise, "Inman's voice – soft, almost contemplative" makes you pay attention.
