LIINES – As Shadows Fall, Manchester post-punk duo’s first new music in two years

Friday 16 October 2026

LIINES are back with a new 5 track EP, As Shadows Fall, out Friday 23 October on Crackedankles Records – their first new music in over two years and their first physical release since 2020.

The focus track is Always The Same, and it's got a really distinctive atmosphere which gives it a personality all of its own – and there are some genuinely memorable melodic touches in there too. The EP was recorded and mixed at Unit 13 Studios in London with producer Paul Tipler, who also did their debut album Stop-Start and has Stereolab, Elastica and Placebo on his CV. Katie Tavini, who has worked with Nadine Shah, Bloc Party and Arlo Parks, did the mastering. It'll come out on a limited one-sided 12" sky blue vinyl with a custom etched reverse, plus CD and digital.

"There's been a lot of life in the gap between records," says vocalist and guitarist Zoe McVeigh. "This EP is us finding our way to being properly 'back' as a band, something we love doing more than anything. This is only the start!" Drummer Leila O'Sullivan credits a chance meeting at a gig with Crackedankles co-founder Stoko (also guitarist with Evil Blizzard) for getting the record moving.

LIINES formed in 2014 and have built up a decent CV since – Breakthrough Act at the Manchester Evening News CityLife Awards in 2020, a Glastonbury Emerging Talent Competition final, tours with Sleaford Mods, bis and The Wedding Present, and support slots for Ladytron, Ash and Hot Snakes.

As Shadows Fall is up for pre-save and pre-order now ahead of its 23 October release.
