Martin Saint – former Ember Glows frontman revisits an old Citylake song on new single Endless Bridge

Martin Saint is a Montreal singer-songwriter you might know as the frontman of The Ember Glows (and before that, Citylake). His new single Endless Bridge came out yesterday, 6 October – and it's actually an old song. He first recorded it with Citylake back in 2017, and has now gone back into the studio and re-recorded it under his own name, nearly 10 years later.

The "for fans of" list on this one reads like a late-80s indie night – The Mission, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Church, The Psychedelic Furs and The Railway Children – and with a baritone voice on top you can probably guess roughly where it's heading.

Martin calls it "about as close to a love song as I'll ever get", although it's a bittersweet one. It follows a relationship from a snowy start, through the break-up and out the other side to forgiveness and letting go. He says he wanted something that sounded "epic" – "melancholic and foggy, but ultimately also uplifting and catchy".

The Ember Glows split in 2024 after about 5 years together, and since then he's been going it alone – his solo album Seekers came out in spring 2025, and Endless Bridge is his first new music since then. On the single he's joined by Julie Abel on piano, Jack Vignavong on bass and Frank Bones on drums (Frank also recorded, mixed and mastered it, and co-produced it with Martin).

He's also put out a book, Under The Full Angry Moon, which collects his song lyrics from the last few years along with some short poems and his own drawings – and it has QR codes in it that take you to the recordings, which is a nice touch. Work has already started on his next album, due in 2027.
