Healthy Junkies will be releasing their 6th studio album “Listen To The Mad” on November 20th 2024 with a launch party at The Shacklewell Arms. The band formed in 2010 and have been on the road ever since. UK, Europe and USA have all welcomed the theatrics and psychedelic chaos of a Healthy Junkies show. Supports to punk legends The Buzzcocks, Glen Matlock, UK Subs, The Rezillos, GBH, Walter Lure, Theatre of hate, Spizz Energi have inspired the band and influenced their confrontational live approach. Radio play from BBC6, BBC London, Phoenix FM, Amazing Radio, BBC Jersey and Rodney Bingenheimer (KROQ and Sirius XM USA) has inspired the band to to continue forging ahead and believing in themselves.
This song is the second single taken from their upcoming new album. All the songs on the new album originate from Jams in the studio. Nina will find a vocal melody to match the music and often come up with a lyrical line or 2 on the spot. We then listen back on the initial recording and make it into something lyrically complete together and arrange it into a song. It’s a bit like going on a lyrical journey together. The words just pour out in a stream of consciousness kind of way. Along the way we throw in social commentary, personal deviations and the odd line designed to throw anyone bothering to listen in a different direction. Your favourite place is likely to be somewhere you go physically and/or mentally to hide from the traumas of reality (‘The city of clowns’ ref Boris Johnson) . That said the lyric also says ‘What you see is what you face‘. So we hide and yet we confront at the same time.
