A Shoreline Dream are a Colorado duo – Ryan Policky and Erik Jeffries – and they've just put out their new album Waiting, exactly 20 years after their 2005 debut Avoiding the Consequences. It's their second album this year, after To Where They Have Gone came out in February with Ride's Mark Gardener on three tracks.

I've had a listen to their mix of shoegaze and post-punk, and there's a real fizz to it – the kind of energy that makes three minutes feel over far too quickly. It's sharp and confident, with enough hooks in there to leave a proper mark.

Waiting is out on Policky and Jeffries' own Latenight Weeknight Records, through The Orchard, and it's a 9 track record previewed by the singles Legacy and 20. The video for 20 stars Julianna Beckert and was shot around Denver and Barnum, Colorado, including the 8th Street bridge – Policky says they made a point of filming spots they love "but know will be gone forever soon".

Policky calls the album a look at what's left after 20 years devoted to music – "waiting for something to happen… waiting to see if what we have put our personal efforts into was worth all the time." Over two decades the pair have built up close to 120 released tracks, and have worked with Ulrich Schnauss plus members of Engineers and Chapterhouse along the way.

Press notices quoted in the release include Brooklyn Vegan ("fans of Ride's Chrome Waves, this is in that ballpark") and Spill Magazine, who called it "an instant classic for lovers of post-punk, dream-rock and shoegaze".

Waiting is out now on Bandcamp, Spotify and Apple Music. Two albums in one year after 20 years at it – hopefully there's plenty more to come!
